Bunny Ear Cactus ‘White’ – A Soft, Silvery Touch of the Desert

Charming and unique, the Bunny Ear Cactus ‘White’ (Opuntia microdasys ‘Albinosa’) is a striking variety of the classic Bunny Ear cactus, distinguished by its silvery-white appearance. This small to medium-sized cactus forms flat, oval pads that resemble the ears of a bunny, hence its playful name. The pads are covered with fine, white spines known as glochids, which are softer than traditional spines but still require care when handling.

Unlike its green counterpart, the white pads of this cultivar give it a soft, silvery glow, creating an eye-catching contrast in a cactus garden or as a striking indoor plant. Though the Bunny Ear Cactus doesn’t typically bloom indoors, when it does flower, it produces bright yellow or pink blooms that provide a delightful pop of color.

Native to the deserts of northern Mexico, Opuntia microdasys ‘Albinosa’ thrives in bright, direct sunlight and well-draining, rocky soil. It’s highly drought-tolerant, requiring only occasional watering during the growing season, with minimal care needed throughout the year.
