Sedum Burros Tail

Sedum morganianum (commonly known as Burro’s Tail or Donkey’s Tail) is a trailing succulent with long, pendulous stems covered in dense clusters of plump, blue-green leaves. It’s often grown as a hanging plant due to its cascading growth habit.

Care Tips:

• Light: Prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate some direct sunlight. However, too much direct sun can scorch the leaves, so it’s best to provide some shade during the hottest part of the day.
• Water: Water thoroughly, but allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Like most succulents, it is more susceptible to root rot if overwatered.
• Soil: Well-draining soil is essential. A cactus or succulent mix works well, and you can add sand or perlite for better drainage.
• Temperature: Thrives in temperatures between 60°F to 85°F (15°C to 29°C). It’s not frost-tolerant, so bring it indoors if you live in a colder climate or during the winter months.
• Fertilizer: Feed during the growing season (spring and summer) with a diluted, balanced fertilizer once every 4-6 weeks. Avoid fertilizing in the fall and winter months when the plant’s growth slows down.
• Pruning: Remove any leggy stems or dead leaves regularly to keep the plant looking tidy. You can propagate the cuttings by letting them dry out for a day or two and then planting them in well-draining soil.
• Propagation: Easy to propagate from stem cuttings. Allow the cuttings to callus over for a day or two before planting them in soil.

Uses:
Burro’s Tail is perfect for hanging baskets or containers, where its long, trailing stems can spill over the edges beautifully. It’s often used in succulent gardens, patios, or as part of an indoor plant display. Its attractive, cascading growth also makes it a great plant for vertical gardens or terrariums. Just be careful when handling it, as the stems can be fragile and break easily.
